Through most of 2020 economic fundamentals were dampened by electoral, civic, and economic uncertainty, yet an individual’s home also became the center of the universe. With the start of 2021, a new optimism came along with the arrival of COVID-19 vaccinations, helping to release the pent-up demand for dining, travel, and leisure. San Francisco’s downtown core market, represented as Districts 6-9, witnessed a flight to quality fueled by historically low-interest rates that motivated first-time home buyers, second home buyers, and those looking to upgrade space or neighborhoods at softer pricing.
