Where to Eat in San Francisco on Christmas Day

Are you visiting San Francisco for the holidays and want a place to dine on Christmas Day? Or maybe you have relatives in from out of town and your apartment can't hold all your visitors? Here are some options where you can have a delicious, memorable Christmas feast.

ACQUOLINA (1600 Stockton St.) This mouth-watering Italian restaurant in North Beach will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day, with specials including seared tuna, lamb chops, and the traditional panettone for dessert.

Bartlett Hall (242 O'Farrell St.) This Union Square staple offers a special three-course holiday meal from 1-10 p.m. on Christmas Day, including a winter salad, choice of scallops or lamb chops, and apple bourbon bread pudding—all for $50 (before tax and gratuity).

Crab House at PIER 39 (PIER 39, Second Level, West Side) Open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Christmas Day, this perennial favorite promises that only Dungeness crabs weighing at least two pounds make it to your table. So strap on a bib and get to work! Bonus: they offer one hour validated parking at the PIER 39 garage.

Fog Harbor Fish House (PIER 39, Second Level, Entrance Plaza) Open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day, Fog Harbor Fish House will have Dungeness crab holiday a la carte specials, plus their complete (and impressive!) regular menu. Take advantage of their excellent views, plus validated parking.

The Franciscan Crab Restaurant (Pier 43 1/2) Overlooking the hustle and bustle of the Bay from Fisherman's Wharf, The Franciscan Crab Restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers two-hour free validated parking.

The Garden Court at The Palace Hotel (2 New Montgomery St.) You can really class it up on Christmas Day by dining in one of San Francisco's most awe-inspiring hotels. At The Garden Court, indulge yourself at their decadent Christmas Day brunch, offered from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Expect live music as well!

The Grill at The St. Regis San Francisco (125 Third St.) Down in SoMa, just blocks from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), The Grill at The St. Regis San Francisco will be hosting a holiday-inspired five-course dinner from 4:30-9:30 p.m. on Christmas Day. Enjoy butternut squash velouté, herb roasted Brandt Farms ribeye steak, and more.

Hard Rock Cafe (PIER 39, Suite 256) Right at the front of PIER 39 is the freshly renovated Hard Rock Cafe. The classic joint will be serving guests from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day, with their Rock Shop opening at two hours beforehand for any last holiday shopping needs you might have.

MKT Restaurant-Bar (757 Market St.) Located in the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel, MKT will be serving a four-course prix-fixe Christmas Day feast from noon to 8 p.m. The menu includes butternut squash soup, smoked organic turkey, yukon potato puree, and more.

Osso Steakhouse (1177 California St.) On top of swanky Nob Hill, Osso Steakhouse will be open from 5-10 p.m., offering some of the most highly praised steaks in the nation (and free valet parking). The beautiful Art Deco styling makes for the perfect ambiance for a memorable holiday meal.

Palio d'Asti (640 Sacramento St.) Not far from the Embarcadero Center's holiday ice rink is Palio d'Asti. This excellent Italian restaurant will be offering a four-course prix-fixe menu on Christmas Day, with seatings from 4-9 p.m. Enjoy regional Italian favorites in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Pier Market Seafood Restaurant (PIER 39, Suite 103) Said to serve some of the best seafood in the city, Pier Market will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day. Enjoy everything from mesquite-grilled fish to a clam chowder sourdough bread bowl. You can even see the chefs at work in their massive open kitchen.

Salito's Crab House & Prime Rib (1200 Bridgeway, Sausalito) Looking for a dining option across the Golden Gate Bridge? Try Salito's in Sausalito, open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day. This beautiful restaurant has splendid bay views, delicious seafood, and excellent cuts of meat. There's plenty to do in town; why not make this meal part of your adventure?

The Stinking Rose (325 Columbus Ave.) This shrine to garlic is a one-of-a-kind, only-in-San-Francisco establishment. Open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day, The Stinking Rose is never shy about its favorite ingredient. Just try their 40-clove garlic chicken!

Yank Sing (101 Spear St. and 49 Stevenson St.) Both locations of this palace of dim sum will be open on Christmas Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Their specialties include Shanghai Kurobuta Pork Dumplings, an egg custard tart, and steamed BBQ pork buns.
