Kevin Durant may have left the Warriors, but his impact on the community lives on.
On Monday, San Francisco Recreation and Park will celebrate the reopening of the Hayes Valley Playground at Buchanan and Hayes streets, a renovation partially funded by Durant's charity and Joe Gebbia, one of the founders of Airbnb.
The centerpiece of the project is a dramatic, multi-colored surface for the basketball court designed by San Francisco street artist Apexer, also known as Ricardo Richey. Apexer worked with Vintage Contractors to carry out his vision for the court, including choosing the right colors and special paint for the surface.
Rec and Park will honor everyone who worked on the project in the celebration from 3 to 5 p.m. There will speeches, giveaways and of course, hoops on the newly refurbished court.
