Udon Time SoMa ETA: Fall 2018 The newest addition to the Omakase Restaurant Group’s design district mini-empire will be this assembly line–style fast-casual noodle shop, where handmade udon will be paired with an array of broths and toppings, allowing customers to customize each bowl. 1 Henry Adams St. (at Division St.)

Commons Club SoMa ETA: Fall 2018 The restaurant component of ritzy, Richard Branson–affiliated Virgin Hotels San Francisco (pictured above) will feature the cooking of Adrian Garcia, whose star-spangled résumé includes stints at Quince and Benu. Expect the menu to feature globally inspired, shareable dishes. 250 4th St. (at Clementina St.)

Alcalá Oakland ETA: 2019 This 3,000-square-foot Spanish restaurant from the proprietors of La Marcha, the Berkeley tapas bar, will bring rustic wood-fire cooking, an in-house whole-animal butchery program, and a selection of paellas to the Oakland Hills. 2084 Mountain Blvd. (at Antioch St.)
