Tents. They’re not for everyone. And for people who prefer to forest bathe in style rather than sleep between two pieces of flimsy rip-stop nylon under the stars, relief has come: AutoCamp, a Santa Barbara-born startup, offers an outdoor glamping experience in which guests get cozy in deck-out Airstreams and luxury canvas tents. The company recently opened its newest location just outside Yosemite National Park.

Right now the camp is open for preview stays. Guests can hibernate in 15 luxury tents, three cabin suites, or 80 deluxe Airstream trailers on AutoCamp’s property. There are also five ADA accessible suites designed by Los Angeles-based M-Rad Inc. Each site comes with its own fire pit with compressed logs to reduce smoke and fire danger.

The custom cabins and Airstreams also feature minimalist interiors with “spa-inspired” bathrooms.

The company’s third property (it has one in Santa Barbara and Sonoma’s Russian River) will feature a midcentury-designed, 4,000-square-foot clubhouse from architecture firm Anacapaand interior design by Geremia Design, as well as a swimming pool. The clubhouse and pool are slated for completion by early June

Other amenities will include a sundeck and a place to purchase food and drink.

Daily shuttles whisk campers from the historic town of Mariposa, located a few minutes away, to the AutoCamp grounds. Nightly rates start at $225. You can make a reservation here.
